The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved three new universities for Delta State. Prior to this, Delta State runs only one University and three Polytechnics.
The newly approved Universities are the University of Delta, Agbor, Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba and Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro.
Professor Abubakar Rasheed (The Executive Secretary of NUC), while presenting the licences of the new institutions to the Delta State Governor – Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, in Abuja on Friday, said the development would increase access to higher education.
The approval was given by the Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, when the Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, led top state government officials to present strategic documents of the universities to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja. The three new Universities established by the Delta State Government are to begin full academic session.
