The Delta state information commissioner Mr Charles Aniagwu has stated that entertainment is a panacea to depression and the improvement of mental health.
Aniagwu made this disclosure today during a courtesy visit paid him by Comedian Don Bright and his crew at His office in the Ministry of information headquarters, Asaba.
The Information commissioner praised entertainers for the role they play in helping to promote peace in the society.
“When people are entertained, they have a way of increasing their contribution to the development of the society which in turn goes a long way in promoting peace”.
He further said that comedy has a way for improving mental health of people, stating that in that course of listening to comedians those who have intentions of committing suicide in account of the pain in the system may decide to let go of that pain at that moment.
He also added that those who want to commit crime that can also distract by entertainment thereby saving that victims life and that is a welcome development.
While commending Don Bright for his efforts and, the Commissioner admonished him to the take the business of comedy serious in order to be successful .
Speaking earlier, Mr Don Bright while thanking the commissioner for this enormous support for entertainment and youths, informed the him of his upcoming comedy event slated to take place in Agbor
He said that the event would be power packed and would pull high profiled comedians from Delta state and asked for the support of the Commissioner in making the event a success.
