The Delta State Government is set to begin implementation of the Delta State Smart City. The Smart City Project is an offshoot of the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa’s #SMART Initiative. As part of the governor’s effort to promote accountability and transparency in government, yesterday a stakeholder’s engagement forum was held at the state secretariat with participating stakeholders of the state Ministries, Departments and Agencies in attendance.
The Smart City project is all about using ICT infrastructure and services to improve the lives of the citizens. The project already in its first pilot stage will enhance productivity, security and reduce the cost of governance in various aspects of government. The Ministry of Science and Technology is the supervising ministry for the Delta State Smart City Project and they have expressed confidence in the project so far.
Going forward, all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Delta State Government will be required to give necessary information and technical requirements that will help in the building of a Smart City in Delta State.
